Reflection                                                                                                           28th September,20

Integrating ICT in the lesson creates amazing opportunities and also makes teaching and learning more effective, it takes learning beyond the text where students get to explore information and they learn more when they are given to handle any kind of situation on their own but these happens only when teacher and students are sitting face to face. Unfortunately, because of COVID-19 the situation became very different, where we had to teach the students on-line which was very difficult for small kids of 5 plus of years. Never the less, I tried to make it as interesting as it could be despite eruption of many inconvenient situation.

As, this year I teach class PP, I chose the subject Math topic 3 D shapes. Actually, I wanted my students to get clear information about the 3-D shapes from the internet but then I thought that if they can at least hear the voice of their class teacher, they would concentrate little on the clip. So with my logical thinking, I proceeded with my lesson. The world is full of ICT, as an educator we need to be equipped with skills and provide the skills to our young learners as well. The school curricula should become more relevant to the needs of the 21st society.

So keeping in mind, I try to explore and use the different strategy that I have learned during my DE course in the campus. After all Technology should be used as a means of solving some of the problems which we face in our teaching and which the learners face in their learning.

Advantages

In order to let children identify names of the 3-D shapes, I used Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation. Firstly, I was very happy because I could teach my lesson by using PowerPoint and present my lesson using simulation. Secondly, I could explored and used the given strategy in a well-organized mannered. Thirdly, my lesson went very well and I got many encouraging comments from my colleague .Though it was a time consuming and since people like me who have less knowledge about ict had to face lots of problem but at the same time I enjoyed a lot making my lesson using different strategy. And I hope my children and parents would also have enjoyed watching my lesson. As no one learns in the same way because of different learning styles and abilities. Technology provides great opportunities for making learning more effective for everyone with different needs.

Disadvantage

Since my lesson went very well compared to the previous lesson because this time I could make use of my ICT knowledge learned during my course at the campus. At the same time people with less knowledge like me and the online classes with small kids of five plus is not at all and easy work/job. Some drawbacks that I encountered was firstly, everything I made has to be in a trial and error bases so it needed lots of time. Secondly, lack of communicational skill due to lack of time, I was not able to communicate with each of the students and know their level of skills on the given topic. Though, during the assessment, I do come to know the level of each child but only during assessment because of the time constrain. Thirdly, trailing off from the given task. Since because of the present situation some parents could not be very vigilant and consistence in the task given. There was also chance of students not getting the correct information, and might be distracted from the clip.

Lastly, despite all these disadvantages and advantages, I felt the lesson went well and I would like to thank our tutor Sir Ugyen Wangchuk for sharing the knowledge about such use of ICT, because of which I could at least explore and come to solve the solution.

  5. Well its true that children pay attention if its their teacher who is talking to them. So hearing your voice i think that you have connected and motivated them to learn. Your reflection was written in detail .
