Reflection on the use of ICT in teaching and learning            August 2020

Integrating ICT into classroom teaching and learning means the use of learning technologies to introduce, reinforce, supplement and extend skills. ICT integration doesn’t mean to replace the traditional teaching and learning methods but to promote further learning by incorporating it as and when relevant in our classroom situation. ICT into classroom instruction enhances children’s learning.

The whole world is full of ICT. There is continual advancement in technological products and the systems themselves. We just need to be equipped with skills and provide the skills to our young learners as well. Since Technology is used as a means of solving some of the problems which we face in our teaching and which the learners face in their learning. The course adopted the major principles of using ICT for teaching and learning. We identified the level of ICT integration into classroom teaching and learning, grading the scenarios given as high, middle and basic levels with the hands on practices. This pandemic COVID-19 came uninvited and stirred the whole world! Implementing ICT in teaching and learning process soared in every nation. Even in a small country like ours our government and ministry of education was fast enough to come up with different ICT based teaching and learning.

Teaching through BBS television and Google classroom quickly came into action.
Different school across the country adopted different online mediums to teach and reach to their children. Different mediums were chosen or selected based on the convenience and feasibility. Schools in urban areas were comfortable with Google classroom and BBS television due to fast internet speed and maximum use of television. Schools in the rural areas relied on best suited social media to teach, in my school most of us teach through we chat as most of our children are too small to participate in goggle classroom. All the teacher taught  through we chat, class teachers  created group chat and we follow strict norms so as to make teaching and learning meaningful and fruitful. We have timetable for different subjects and when it’s our turn to teach through online we make sure to put in our best to make our teaching and learning more interactive and useful.
We even conducted online test and do online corrections.

Blog creating session was very enriching as with this communicative tool, we could share our teaching learning experiences with our friends and get to learn about their experiences too.
